This morning’s storm came on the moon tide at 11AM. The wind was 29 gusting to 52 out of the SSE. The club dock had waves breaking over it.

L.L. Bean comes to CHYC!
In early September, we got a call from Basha Burwell asking if it might be possible for a couple of photo crews to use the Club dock & floats for some L.L.Bean catalog shots (for next summer’s catalog). Basha’s been working with the Bean production crews for a while now. They shoot around this area every year (they’ve used the Gallant’s property – E.B.White’s old house – for several years) and they were looking for some different locations. Since their impact on Club facilities and/or members would be minimal or nil and the sessions just involved a small inconvenience to baby-sit things, we thought it might be worth doing. It turns out, they paid the Club a $2,000 fee for a couple of days use of the dock/floats for shooting (they did, of course, provide us with a certificate of liability insurance for any untoward occurrences – and there were none). The people were considerate, professional and a pleasure to work with. It was a virtually zero-impact event with some welcome income for the Club as a by-product. If they follow their normal course, we’ll probably have an opportunity to do this again in future years.
